Okay2stay hosts are mainly small producers who welcome members travelling in self-contained motorhomes to park overnight on their properties for one night free of charge. As a ‘thank you’ for their stay, members visit their host's tasting room or small shop and make a purchase – a bottle of wine, delicious artisan cheese, or perhaps a meal in the onsite cafe. Hosts offer a range of unique places to stay, including vineyards, olive groves, cheese makers, lavender farms, orchards and berry farms. There are also small breweries, rural cafes and restaurants. In fact, three Okay2stay hosts are named in the NZ Top 100 Restaurants for 2018!
Each host has a page in the members’ area giving details of location, who to contact, business hours, links to their website and a few photos. There is also a place to leave reviews and photos. Check the host map to view hosts along your route.
Members must check that it is okay to stay by contacting their host ahead of time (at least 24 hours). This can be done by email or phone call. On arrival they display their membership ID on their device, along with another form of ID, eg passport.
Hosts offer a unique and safe place to park. However, they are not campgrounds so they do not provide toilets, showers or electricity - that’s why members’ vehicles must be totally self-contained.
